I cannot open the program - with Windows 7 - I get two warnings: ... d3dx_36.dll is not present on the PC and "Could not load dynamic library ./rendersystem_direct3D9.dll (OGRE EXCEPTION)". I tried to reinstall the program with no success.

The problem is not with the software, but with a library that's missing on your computer. That library is related to the DirectX functionality which means you will have to install the latest version of DirectX and the software will run again.
